Application-oriented undergraduate colleges and universities focus on cultivating application-oriented and technical-skilled talents. They place great emphasis on cultivating students' practical skills and enhancing students' employment competitiveness, thus serving regional economy. In such colleges and universities, students also value the learning of skills and can well adapt to use modern network technology. Nowadays, with the activities such as submitting homework, receiving feedback, having discussion and self-learning, the network teaching platform is fully functional and easy to use. Under the opportunity of the development of new liberal arts, how should teachers effectively carry out the teaching of English literature with the help of network teaching platform, both highlighting its role in humanistic education and serving the talent training objectives and school-running characteristics? Based on the network teaching platform, this paper introduces the Production-oriented Approach to the teaching of English literature and explores the theoretical basis for its application from the level of teaching concepts and teaching hypotheses, and a series of teaching plans are made to demonstrate its feasibility. © 2021 IEEE.
