Tóm tắt

Focusing on the diversity of Southern California artists, the Pomona College Museum of Art’s Project Series was developed at Pomona College, a liberal arts institution. This program aims to: 1) serve as a creative, intellectual, and artistic hub, and 2) engage with the academic context, in the visual arts and across disciplines. The artists in the Project Series work with faculty and students, offering workshops, lectures, performances, and other focused programs. The Project Series, now past its 50th edition, is a place to encounter and creatively respond to aesthetic, social, cultural, and political issues. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the collaborative and creative dialogues between the exhibiting artists and the curriculum, faculty, and students at Pomona College, and reflects on new models of engaging artists and exhibitions with students in meaningful ways. © 2019 selection and editorial matter, Irina D. Costache and Clare Kunny; individual chapters, the contributors.
